Inspired By: UGGS...WHAT?!

I've had to make many tough decisions this year. Some more serious like where to attend college, and if you read this blog, which you should and most likely do since you are reading this silly post, then you know I chose UMD, chirp terp I'm a pretty bird chirp terp. Other decisions involved to wear boyfriend jeans or not to wear boyfriend jeans, because I do not have a boyfriend. To eat this caloric yet beautiful cupcake or not to eat the cupcake. Sorry for the Shakespearean references, but I am finishing off the year in AP Lit after all, and I did have to fill out all of my AP paperwork today.

Anyway, today I am faced with an extremely difficult decision, a challenge, if you may. I call it a challenge because I have challenged myself to buy an item that I have so publicly trashed before today and find this item quite offensive. No, the item is not crocs. Kill me if I ever say Gee!!!! I want to buy some CROCS today!!!! Seriously, put me out of my misery.

This battle entails a pair of UGGly ass shoes. Get my gist? I decided since I am off to college in the fall and although I say I will get dressed up every single day for class, you and I both know that is a big fat lie, although I shall try to flaunt my Free People dresses to class as often as genuinely possible. But for the days I want to roll out of bed, a nice pair of UGG moccasins seem like exactly what the the slipper doctor (in this case UGGoligist) ordered. I am a loyal Minnetonka Moccasin kind of girl, but let's face it. If College Park ever gets cold, a girl just needs the warmth of some UGGs when her Hunter Welly socks won't cut it.

So now the difficult decision? PEWTER or BLACK?!?!?!?!

Inspired By: Prom

I finally decided to upload my prom pics! Kidding, my mom just gave me back my camera, she was hoarding it in her fancy car (seen below). Anyway, here are the much awaited pictures (Molly). Enjoy my curly blown out hair-do and make-up. I don't wear make-up. Except on occasions like this. I decided it would only be proper to look my best, especially because it wasn't my prom. Yay junior prom. I'm a senior. Not my prom. Woo.

Hope you enjoy my butterfly and floral ridden flowy ruffle dress! And my fancy shoes. You better appreciate those shoes. I was able to wear them all night, crazy right? Especially since last time I wore them for a night of dancing the night away, my feet wanted to murder me. Sorry, feet. But I was a trooper and kept them on all night. And if you know me and my hardcore dance moves, that sounds like it would hurt, a lot. Don't worry, I was fine, and my feet got over it.

...and just in case you wanted to see the same view of the dress, but this time with my legs crossed and me standing in front of my mom's car (mom's idea)...here it is!

Shoes: Frye, Clutch: Mom's Closet

Please excuse my recycling of this picture of my shoes from a previous post. But, my mom was having a hard time taking a good picture of my shoes on the day of, and we were in a tad bit of a rush so I felt bad asking her to retake it 12 times, I'm a great daughter.

Inspired By: Maxi Dresses

My friend Molly loves this blog. Not sure why, kidding! Because I'm the shit. Kidding again. Anyway, I saw Molly this weekend and she screamed out for everyone we were with to stalk my blog. To her surprise and my delight, people exclaimed, "I already read it!" Guess this shit and pointless stories aren't totally going to waste. (Insert thumbs up symbol here)

Molly loves shoutouts. Hi Moll. Thanks for taking these pictures of me. (Molly took this in hopes that they would make it on the blog) You made it big, congrats, Moll!

Enough pointlessness for one day so let me tell you about my ensemble. This weekend I had a dance to go to and while everyone wears short dresses I decided to spruce it up a bit and opted for the maxi dress, woot woot. This maxi is from Urban Outfitters and is Ecote.

I'm off to take a nap. I'm tired, sick, and my feet are still in a permanent high heel arch from dancing the night away in mah Fryes. Peace, loyal followers.

If you'll kindly excuse my awkward and odd shaped face for one minute and focus your attention on my necklace. Fancy, right? Yup, it's my mom's.

Of course I couldn't resist wearing my new Frye heels in public. They needed to be seen, and not just on this blog.

Inspired By: Farmer Chic

Here's an entertaining pointless story for all of you. My high school is really big so I of course do not know everyone. So, yesterday I was walking to class and felt myself being tugged in the opposite direction. "Who the hell is grabbing me?" I asked myself. More like what is grabbing me. I turned around to find that my sweater was stuck to a stranger's backpack.

Well this is just swell. How do I get myself out of this. Don't cry, Amanda. Whatever you do, do not cry. (I'm a crier). I developed the courage to speak to this stranger and I said, "Excuse me sir, excuse me." He turned around and was not amused. "What?" He asked. "I'm stuck on you!" He still had no idea what was going on. So instead of bother this poor innocent stranger I decided to tug at my poor Michael Kors holey sweater. No worries, we are both still in tact. We were then able to part and go our separate ways (the boy and me, not my sweater and me because then i would have been topless, duh...)

I still don't think that boy even knows what went on, and I still don't know his name. Pity, we could have had something special and then had a wonderful story to tell the grandkids about how we met.

This is mostly where the "farmer" from farmer chic comes into play. But, this farmer top is special because there is a ruffled collar. I love me some ruffle, you should know that by now. You know what's better than ruffles? Ruffles on sale at Urban for $10. Yup, I scored this Urban Renewal plaid shirt for $10 on sale. Score for me. And my mom, if she should ever chose to borrow anything from my closet.

I know what you are all asking yourselves right now..."That bow is just so cute, Amanda, it can't be yours, so who's is it?" Well, silly readers, I've borrowed this one from myself 10 years ago. Yup, something I'm wearing is actually mine, crazy. My entire outfit today is mine. I know, you're speechless.

Molly Horowitz, I just love you.

Inspired By: Tweed

I look silly. But in my defense, when I repeatedly practiced this pose in the mirror, it looked cool, and made my legs look extra skinny. Unfortunately, I was unable to transfer the coolness from my misleading mirror. As for my legs, I'll deal. I'm a muscular girl, I run track. I say this because being a sprinter is not easy on the legs, especially when I want to wear some tight pants and call it a day.

The moment track begins my legs blow up and that means bye-bye corduroys until June, when my legs have been restored to their skinny goodness. Why June, you ask? Because June is when my 7 million month track season comes to a close. And why corduroys, you also ask? Because when your legs aren't skinny and you wear corduroys the fabric rubs together and squeaks. Yes, I said SQUEAK. And then I'm off to college and I won't be doing track there. But hey, at least I'm living where there's a two story gym. I like me some elyptical workouts. Ok, fine, I love track.

Anywayyyy..yet another pointless track story from me. Sorry. Enjoy the weird position I positioned my body in. And if your looking for the most comfortable pair of black flats, um ever, buy these. They are the shit.

Also important to note: I blow-dried my hair for the first time in 2 years tonight. I tend to go for the all natural look, but tonight I decided to live a little.

Shirt: Mom's closet. Blazer: Vintage. Jeans: BDG. Shoes: Michael Kors

Whippin' out the high wasties again, obvs. Although, I'm beginning to realize they never look high waisted in pictures. Oh well. Take my word for it, they come up to my belly button.

This is my fancy new blazer. I use the words my and new very casually, just so you know. Because the blazer is in fact my mom's, well now it's mine, but this time she gave it to me I didn't have to steal it. My life rocks. And also, this blazer is far from new. It has been in that downstairs closet for ages, I like to call it the vintage closet. This jacket may or may not have come with a matching skirt...ok it did.

The perfect blouse. Unfortunately for my mother, since it does belong to her, I will run away with it to college.

Inspired By: Friday and No Gym Class

I love days I don't have gym. I like being able to get dressed in the morning and not have to go to school and immediately get undressed and changed. I also love these days because I can wear things that won't necessarily be stuffed in a locker.

So today, I opted for my Free People cargos and Free People long ass sweater. Gym class hero? Yes, because I look like a superhero when I walk and my super hero garment flies with me. (In this case, my sweater doubles as a shield and cape)

Whenever I wear clothes, which do not fear is everyday, my dad asks me why I am so dressed up. The answer? I hate sweats and quite honestly cannot pull them off. And when I do wear them it is to sleep because no one will see me. Anyway, a cargo and sweater is not dressed up. So everyday I remind him, "Dennis, darling. This is a sweater. You may be granted the right to ask me that question when I wear a dress. Good day." And I do wear dresses to school, Dad.

I have a similar philosophy when it comes to UGG boots, or UGGly ass boots. This philosophy parallels that of sweats in public, or school. If you are one of those people who thinks wearing UGGs with jean shorts or a dress is ok, be ashamed of yourself. And then get some treatment, I'd love to be your therapist. You may pay me in Free People. Ditch the UGGs, gurls and guys, buy yourself some Docs, like mine (below).

I was ecstatic today when a fellow student of mine said "I hate when people wear sweatpants. You look dirty and lazy. I laugh and yell at you in my head." Thank you for understanding, kind sir.

Cargo close-up, kinda.

So patchwork chic.

Word to the Wise: Do not drink iced coffee when it is freezing outside. Who am I kidding? You can never go wrong with an iced coffee. Nevermind, peace readers.

Inspired By: Floral Socks

Today I channeled my grandma when I got dressed for escuela. Not only did I channel her, but I wore her scarf. Score. No pair of pure blue high-wasted jeans are complete without a vintage sweater from my mom's closet and a scarf from grandma's. Spread the wealth, share your clothes. I'd also love to tell you to snag a pair of these BDG high-wasteys for only $29, but that deal ended on January 3rd at Urban. Sorry kiddies.
High wasted jeans have been my guiltiest pleasure lately. Word to the wise: higher jean pockets make your ass look fine, and when I say "fine" imagine me saying it like "foiiiine". Get it?
Thumbs up for my grammy socks you can't see and my kick ass suede flats.
I love me some floral grammy socks, with flats. I hope you like my carpet, because that would make one of us. When my parents brought it home I said, "Mom, Dad, I hate this carpet. Please return it before I cry." Their response? "You are so ungrateful". So, to prove my gratefulness, five years later, I still use that nasty, I mean beautiful carpet.
PS-Melissa, best frand in da entire world, I am sorry for ditching you to babysit...but i will buy you a purty birthday present with mah cash money.

Amanda
