Inspired By: Big Little Shenanigans

I'd like to welcome myself back to reality for a moment and say hello to my beloved blog, one that I've abandoned for so many months.  For that, Pretty Bird, I am sorry.

Aside from that, I'd also like to stray from my normal topic of conversation, mostly with myself, and delve into the world of being a sorority girl.  Not in a weird way, people, relax.  I just want to share all of my big little endeavors with my biggest fans. That is, if I still have any. Miss you! Wink wink.

Today's post has little to do with fashion and a lot to do with love.  Lots of love, in fact.  The love I, and all of my sisters, have for our littles.

Let me just preface this post with a love note to my little.

Little, you are the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life. All I want to do is hug you and give you candy and clad you in all of my handed down clothing.  You are perfect and should never change because you're my leetle, and I love my leetle.

OK, enough of that.  Let's digress into the typical big little exchange during the mysterious days.

In the few exchanges in which the littles have absolutely no clue who their bigs are, even though they may have an inkling, these bitches go cray. Muploads on muploads of baskets with captions such as "OMG BIGGIE I LOVE YOU MORE THAN ANYTHING! I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU ARE BUT YOU ROCK!" Like, yeah, I rock and I'm glad you know it.

But anyhoo, although I am all too familiar with this love fest phenomenon, seeing as my big is the best person in the entire world (aside from my little, of course), I still find the process peculiar.  Like how could you possibly love me if you have no idea who I am?

Is it because you know I'm a pretty bird and you love pretty birds? In that case, I love you even more than I thought possible.  Maybe you read my blogs, little? And for that, I thank you.

These digressions are even giving me a headache, so moving back on, I suppose.  Let's talk about baskets. Wow, what is there to say about these baskets. So much time and money spent on rather pointless things that either make no sense or will make your little fat. They will make her phat too.

Like how much candy could my little eat if I throw 20 bags of Reese's in a green pale? The world may never know.  Will she ever wear the ugly shirts I've handed down to her since I no longer wear them? Will she parade around in the weird hat I've positioned so nicely to angle off the side of her basket in an artsy fashion? Will she ever utilize the stuffed giraffe? So many questions, only answers I can draw from my own experience.

Well, that's all I've got for now.  Not my typical material, but I thought my life was slightly interesting that perhaps someone would be interested.

Big, I miss you. Little, I love you. AEPhi, you are the best thing that's ever happened to me.

Ew grossing myself out with this sappy love fest, so BYE!

Amanda

Inspired By: Fall

Goooooood afternoon, party people. So like, hi. It's been awhile. And it gets increasing more awkward every time I bring that notion up because then you're (Molly Elisa) all like, "Hey, Pretty Bird, where you at? It's been since June that you blogged last." And to that I say, yes, but I have had a lot on my plate.

Okay, no excuses, just blog posts.

So don't fret, and instead take in all the beauty that is this post because it seeps beauty and briskness from its pores.  I'm talking about the Fall season, of course!

Maryland is often quite humid and hot in the summer. Naturally, one can only sport her Free People cutoff shorts for so long before craving pastel colored skinny jeans.  So, when the weather turned brisk and crisp and everything fall-like, I obviously did a jig, put on my Free People ensemble from head to toe and frolicked on Frat Row. (poet and I didn't even know it, as always.)

Without further adieu, please enjoy two of my fall favorite outfits. I also instagrammed the following photo and entered it in #FPCLOSET competition, so like, Free People, vote for me.
Shirt: Free People, Jeans: Free People, Flats: Sam Edelman

Trying to be artsy; I even made this my profile picture on Facebook. I believe this to be so artsy in fact, that a man friend of mine told me my picture was weird and that I should delete it immediately. Men just don't understand.  Am I right, ladies?
If I could captain this picture, it would say: "Hey! Hi! Look at me twirl and be a pretty girl!"
Ya know, just laughing and being candid and flailing my hair and whatnot.
Shorts: Free People, Boots: Anne Klein, Sweater: Roomate's (Thanks for the sweater, EmDawg)

Perhaps sunglasses would have been a better idea than my spectacles in the sun. Oh well, YOLO. Sorry, I hate when people say YOLO so I used to say it as a joke and then it became a habbit. Sorry not sorry. Ugh, that one too.

Special thanks to Sarah for being my photographer and frolicking alongside me on the Row. Tootles.

Inspired By: Tights and Shorts

Two posts in one week? Am I dreaming? Is probably what you're asking yourself. And the Pretty Bird is here to assure you that is most certainly not a dream, but instead a quick outfit post.

If you know me, you know I can be found singing and dancing, bar mitzvah style and whatnot. And you should also be aware of the fact that nothing cheers me up like a good Lady GaGa song. Especially You and I. So below you will witness me breakin' it down to that very song. But since this is in fact a fashion blog, I would like to note my outfit.

Can't can't enough of the tights with shorts...still. It's mah shit. And I'm wearing patent leather pumps. Fancy, I know.

Inspired By: Wednes-DIY

Shalom. I just got back from a nice jog. During this jog I thought about many things. I thought about the fact that camp ended today and how I am leaving for college in a little over a week. Shit is getting real. I want my room to be fabulous and basically Free-Peopled out. What better way to accomplish this than by buying some cork boards, a necessary item for college dorms, and decorated them with mah fave brand? You're right, there is no better way than a Wednes-DIY.

And the other thing I thought about while I was running? How fabulous it is to be a sober individual surrounded by drunk fools at staff parties. And then I replayed a scene of a drunk fool salsa dancing with my friend Jackie at said party. Goooood times.

And so we begin with our Free People bag and scissors. If you look closely you can see that this bag is already cut. Sorry, but I thought of the idea to blog about my big DIY project after I cut the bag. So, sue me. PS do you get my title of this post? It's a play on words, duh. I did a DIY on Wednesday.

I know you can't really tell, but I'm folding the shiz out of the fabric in this here picture. Folding away, loving Wednes-day (DIY). Poet, and I didn't even know it.

This is what your cork board should look like now. If it doesn't, go poop.

Once you've snazzy-fied your cork with a fabric of your choice the next step is to staple, with your daddy's powerful staple gun, half of the Free People bag on top.

Don't I just look the snazziest posing with my new do it yaself cork boards? Did I mention I love projects. Actually, did I mention I love Free People? I tweeted them a twitpic of these boards, still no answer. I guess the Free People twitter rep overlooked it. I'll have my people call their people and work it all out.

El producto final. That's "the final product" in Spanish, in case you were wondering. Gosh how could you not know your Spanish? I'm kidding, I got a 1 on my Spanish AP test, I ain't one to judge.

So, who wants a recap? Anyone, anyone? I'll give you one anyway.
Step 1: Buy some cork boards. Squares are fun, and the perfect size for our Free People spin.
Step 2: Get yoself a fine ass Free People shopping bag, cut the handle off, and then cut the bag in half.
Step 3: Choose a fabric. I chose leopard and floral. Not that you asked.
Step 4: Cut the fabric into a square to fit around your cork board and staple it on the back.
Step 5: Staple the Free People bag over the other fabric. Pull tight so you ain't gots no ridges or speed bumps.
Step 6: Hang that shiz up in your dorm room and be a walking, talking, breathing Free People ad.
Shoutout to my new friend Ellen. She bookmarked my blog on her computer. What a loyal follower. So, thank you Ellen. I enjoyed watching Bachelor Pad with you the other night. Yay Ames and Jackie.

Inspired By: Denim on the Top

Honey, I'm home (back)! No, I did not go anywhere. I went nowhere, in fact. I've just been working my little blogging tushy off as a camp counselor. Sorry I've been so MIA (I feel like I always start my blog posts off with that, sorry to quote myself then. And I should probably blog more). Working on it!

And while I'm apologizing, I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize for the wrinkles in my Free People polka dot skort. So, sorry. That shit gets wrinkled A LOT, it's the fabric, not me, I promise.

I hope you like my highlighted hair!

Hey, geek chic makes a comeback.

I bought these babies for myself. Grad gift to myself, duh. These babies are so damn comfy, like you're walking on platform air. Ha. Ha. Ha.

BOO! And to that you respond, AH! Look..it's an attack of the blogger!!!
Shirt: Urban Outfitters, Shorts: Free People, Shoes: KorkEase, Bag: Vintage

I should probably stop posting the same picture of the bracelet fiesta residing on my left arm. However, this picture seems rather nostalgic for me right about now. Reason number one: the bracelet with the balls was a graduation gift. Amazeballs.

And reason number two: the little silver number was recently lost. This little guy fell off my wrist while strolling through a garden in New York City. I searched and searched, retraced my Michael Kors flats' steps and threw in the towel. RIP little man o' silver hearts.

Inspired By: Graduation Fiestas

Ello, ello gobna. (Governor, not Schwarzenegger, though, this blog is no place for men like him). Anyhoo, hey, hi, whatsup? Ah, look at me, the ballerina bellow, curtseying in my pretty Free People dress! I rocked this for my graduation party, peepz. Yay, I'm a grad.

Practicing my model face. Working? I think not.
Notice my awkward positioning? Of course I had reason as to why my arms are positioned in such a manner. And the reason begins with a needle. No, sillies, I did not stick a needle in myself! But I did get some blood taken (sorry for the mental image, you squeamish readers o' mine)

And this session of blood taking did not end well. Of course I did not realize until after the bandage came off. Long story short, the lady missed mah vein and bruised my wittle arm. Longer story short, my hand is like that to conceal my colorful bruise. And when I say colorful I mean purples and greens and yellows, oh my.

Dress: Free People, Shoes: Michael Kors
No graduation fiesta is complete without another fiesta, one on the arm.

Inspired By: Senior Prom

Hello hello hello. Wazzzup wazzup wazzup! (to quote the really loud man on The Next Food Network Star. You know him. The one who yells about his awesomeness.) Anyway, hi. It's been a while. I know I'm slacking, but to be fair I've been pretty damn busy. And I recognize my last post was pretty fucking lame. But I have more of those baby headbands if you know, you liked that sort of thing.

Why was the Pretty Bird so busy? You ask. Well, readers and questions askers, I was prepping for my senior prom. Doing a lot of shit like getting my nails and toes did. And mah hair did. And some waxage on my eyebrows and things. And some crying.

I have no soul but can be quite the cry baby. Like Friday when I cried during my Advertising class because my teacher would not let me go to the nurse after I broke my toe and watched it gush blood in my moccasin. Sorry to be graphic, but I hope now you understand.

Okay so here are some of my prom pictures, ones I made Alexandria take for me in the lobby while everyone was eating dinner. I wanted some privacy, gosh. Plus I don't eat red meat, and naturally there was steak for din din. Okay bye, enjoy.

Caption: Moron Who Frolicks in the Lobby of Senior Prom

In case you were wondering what the back of my dress looked like. Basically the same as the front. But oh wait! With a criss cross back. I go hard.

My mom calls me edgy. Because of my shoes, people.

Because no outfit is complete without an animal skin of some sorts...
